Ascariasis...

This was my topic for today's class...
Ascariasis... A roundworm disease caused by Ascaris Lumbricoides and it's was found worldwide.
Transmitted when you eat raw vegetables and possibly invade your whole small intestine and cause obstruction.

Imagine these worms crawling around your guts laying 20,000 eggs a day which each hatch into more and more worms. 85 % of patient are asymptomatic ( which means there isn't any clinical manifestation) so you don't even know that whether there is worms in your intestine... Gross rite? I almost can't have my dinner looking at all these.

This picture shows that post-op resection of the duodenum..after it's invasion by the worms.
Young girl after Albendazole..

Treatment is to have a dose of mebendazole ( vermox, which comes in chocolate flavor) or albendazole ( zentel) half a year, which you can get in a very reasonable price in your nearest pharmacy and probably you'll end up like the little girl above, worms , worms and still worms crawling out from your anus... hahaha...

Dear sis, let's see whether you'll still dare to eat salad...muahahaha
